Countdown to the move to Elk Grove

I think this is post 50. How cool is that?
I think my brother and parents will move in 2 weeks. There is so much to do until then. I need to get my Christmas tree down and clean my living room. Then spend as much time at my parents as I can to help them pack.
My sister went up to the house on Monday. She said she never wanted to leave. She has 2 bottles of wine in the house already. She knows how to set her priorities. LOL

Countdown to 2005

Yesterday I canceled my dentist appointment. I couldn't stop coughing. Not fair to them to cough in their face all the time.
So I took my hubby's portable DVD player to bed with me. Had enough tea and cookies to keep me happy and watched the Bourne Idenity and Supremacy.
I was in heaven. It was also a great gift to myself. Just rest and relax. I woke up this morning feeling good. I also went back on all of my allergy meds. They are good also. So coughing and wheezing down to a minimum.
I'm glad I bought him the DVD player for Christmas. I may have to get myself one. LOL
So back to knitting today. Almost finished with hubbies Irish Hiking Scarf.
Next week I will sit down and figure out what I want to knit for 2005.

'Twa the day after Christmas

It is over, it was a success. Everyone was happy and no one stressed over the day. Now to see when I can get the tree out of here. I need to breath. LOL
Work wasn't to bad. I even got some sleep yesterday. Of course not enough for me to feel good, but that is ok. Off for a few nights now so I can rest.
Raining here and cold today. Good think I don't have to do anything.

'Twas the night before Christmas

So it is almost Christmas and I am ready. Well as ready as I'll ever be. Off to bed soon. Then off to work. The only thing about working Christmas eve and night is public transportation is almost non existant. Hope it doesn't take me to long to get to work tonight.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas.

Christmas Tree

When am I going to admit defeat?
The tree is up. The kids decorated it and it looks beautiful.
I've been wheezing ever since it came into the house.
One of these years I'll put my foot down and buy a fake tree.
I don't mind the needles all over the house. I don't mind the smell. I am just tired of not being able to breath.
I feel like such a scrooge. Well I actually don't feel like that. I think I feel defeated, but a stupid tree. I love trees. I love their smell.
They just don't love me.

I'm feeling better

I went out for a walk, then my parents. Then I went to the mall. Got most of my shopping done. I know the walk is what made me feel so good. So I'll be sure and go out for one tomorrow.
I just need 3 more presents. It is great to not feel in a rush. I can enjoy myself. I didn't realize it until I went to the mall.

How many day's until Christmas?

My brother spent the night in his new house.
He is very excited. Wish I could feel the same way. Maybe I am just jealous. So one more thing to take day by day. It will all work out.
Got a little Christmas shopping done yesterday.
The one great thing about Christmas is the shops are open on my way home from work. So I was able to shop and be home just 30 mins later then I usually am.
I felt so good.
Now to get my act together so I can go out and buy my brother and sister their presents. Once I get to the store I should be finished in no time. Then over to see my parents then home and I guess we should decorate the tree.
The kids brought it upstairs last night. It is great to have kids that are almost grown up. They go ahead and do things.
I need to find the lights. Maybe I'll just buy new ones.
Who knows.
I can feel the Christmas depression starting to creep in. Must fight it. I've made it this far. Can't let it take over now.
I should feel good that I'm this close and I still feel calm.

Can you tell I"m bored?

Lemon Tea
Lemon Tea...
Strong willed and a bit feisty in temper you stand
out from other people! Creative but dangerous
you have few friends and those that have been
accepted into your small group are special and
unique just like yourself. Once your mind is
made up that's it and no one can change it. You
can think clearly and figure out just what to
do in a tense situation which is a rare gift.
You arent twisted by societies rules and
regulations and are rebel by nature!

Twas the week before Christmas

So how many of you are ready for Christmas?
I'm not.
I'm not worried about it, I not depressed about it. I'm just not ready and really don't see how I'll have the time to get ready.
I'll just take it day to day and see what happens.
I work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. So I'll end up sleeping all day Christmas day. I'll see if the kids want to wake up early and do gift ro if they want me to go to sleep and wake up so we can do Christmas.
Whatever we decide it will work out.
Maybe the fact I have to work sort of has something to do with my mood.
Somebody has to work Christmas and it is my turn this year. Can't complain.
I have a tree. Just need to get it up so we can decorate it.
I do have a few items to knit up for presents. I'm not even worried about getting them finished on time.
Hope I can stay this calm all week.

New York City Part 2

We of course were up late on Saturday. LOL
Had breakfast delivered which was great. Meant none of us had to get moving quickly in the morning.
When we finally made it out of the house the kids and I went shopping. The girls wanted to go to H&M. So we did. Brian of course went to Fye. I stayed outside on the street and bought a Prada backpack from a guy on the street. LOL
After everyone was finished shopping we walked around. The kids wanted to go to the restaurant Serendipity. They new it from the movie Serendipity. We didn't get to eat there because there was a 4 hour wait. We did get to eat at a lovely pizza place. The kids had a great time walking around looking at all the sites.
We were starting to head to Times Square to meet our friends. I called them to see where they were, they had just gotten off the Staten Island Ferry and were going to eat. So we walked around some more. Looked at the Bloomingdales windows. They are Phantom of the Opera. My girls can't wait for the movie to come out. Fiona wanted a T-shirt. So we went inside. She decided not to buy one when she found out it was $68.
We then made our way up to Times Square. We walked up and down Times Square. Went into Toys 'R Us. Went down to the Late Show. Had a great and tiring time. Never did meet up with our friends. Just so many people. It would have been impossible to meet up with them. Didn't make it back to my friends house until midnight. We were very tired but the kids had a great time.
Sunday was our last day. We planned to take our luggage with us. My friend thought we were crazy and offered to meet us later and drive us to the airport. That was a great gift from her. Never mind letting all of us stay at her place.
So we took the bus down 5th Ave to Central Park. We got off the bus at the southern end of the park and had a great time walking around. It was a beautiful day. Sunny and warm. I was saying if we had a summer day in San Francisco like that we would be in heaven. We got to see the Carosel, everyone ice skating and the zoo. Time just didn't permit us to do anymore than walk around and look at everything. It was fun and realxing and we say the next time we come to New York we will spend more time in the park.
We then made our way to Grand Central Station where we had something to eat and met up with our friend.
She drove us to JFK. I was exhauted sitting in traffic and I have no idea how she was able to drive in it.
I am so glad she drove us. We were able to get there without any hassel and we even had time to relax after we went thru security. The trip home was good. I even had a nap on the plane.
We arrived home around midnight
The kids are anxious for their next trip.
It was great fun going with them. I'm glad they came and will travel with them in the future. They are great fun.

New York City 2004

The kids and I were in New York City from December 1-5. We had a wonderful time.
Our flight to New York was uneventful. We took a taxi from JFK to Grand Central Station. We were all exhausted and couldn't talk much. We did walk around Grand Central a little and had something to eat. We then took the subway up to my friends house. We were in bed early.
Of course that didnt' mean we would be up early the next day. Our internal clocks are 3 hours later than New York.
We did make it over to see the Statue of Liberty on Friday. We didnt' make it to Ellis Island. Had a great time walking around Liberty Island, taking pictures and looking back at Manhattan. I always love being some where in the middle of the water and looking back at land.
We arrived back on Manhattan about 5:30pm. Walked up to the World Trade Site. Walked around there. They have lots of info up about the history of the site and what the plans for the future are.
We then went and walked around Lower Manhattan. Lights and tall buildings were our guide. We had a great time.
We ended up at Little Italy and decided to stop and eat.
After dinner we walked some more.
When we made it back to my friends house our hostest and her daughter were asleep. My friend from Canada and her friend were there so we had a nice visit before we all headed to bed.
Slowly posting pictures.
I get tired of doing it and then sign off and don't go back. Hopefully by Monday I'll have them all up.
Friday was my birthday. We went to the Museum of Modern Art. It was very nice. Met my friends at Rockerfeller Center. Took pictures at the tree. The kids were able to go to The Pokemon Center. The NBC Store and The American Girl Store. So they were happy.
Thank goodness for cell phone. Otherwise I have no idea how we would have met up with our friends.
We took the bus back up to my friends house. We were very loud and obnoxious on the bus. No one said anything to us. Maybe they were afraid of us. LOL
There was a birthday party waiting for me back at my friends house. I had a great time. Drank way to much wine. Called my husband and two friends in the middle of the night. My husband is the only one laughing about the phone call. Good think I only get drunk once or twice a year.
Didn't get to sleep until after 3am. Of course that was only 12midnight San Francisco time.
More later.

New York trip is over and done

I don't have much time to write.
I can tell everyone we had a great time.
The weather was great. No rain or snow, so we were able to get around very easily.
The kids had a great time and I had fun with them.

I'm New York bound

Went to the dentist today. I need a crown. Since I am leaving tomorrow they will work on my tooth on Tuesday.
Since I leave in the morning for New York City there will be no further posts until Monday. Everyone have a great week.

Monday

A piece of my tooth fell out Saturday night. I was able to get an appt tomorrow morning. It was that or sit in the office until they can see me. I don't have time to sit.
On the last 2 days before our vacation. Watching the weather in New York. While I want it clear while we travel it would be nice for the kids to see some snow. So it can snow on Friday. LOL
Thank you Nancy for your offer to help me with my blog. I am stubborn and feel I should be able to do this on my own. I did go and load some pictures on flicr.com so we will see what happens to me and my luck in getting pictures here.
I would really like to be able to show the pictures I take in New York.
Not knitting much because I am so busy trying to get laundry done and the house at least neat looking before I leave on Wednesday morning.
Everyone have a great week.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Since very few people read my post I thought I would get my wishes out early.
Hope everyone has a great turkey day.
I hope to knit today and tomorrow.
Then back to work on Fri/Sat. so I know I'll get some knitting done then.
Also since I can't get any pictures to post here until I get the computer working correctly. If you want to see my pictures go to:

Every time I come in it looks different

This is so interesting and confusing.

Wonder if I can change other things. LOL

Do you know what is getting me down?

I can't get pictures to load.
I can't download the program that you use here to just load up your pictures. I am trying to do html and am not doing a good job.
When I finally think I am getting pictures up the post takes days to appear and then there are no pictures.
I guess that mean I just have to fool around here more.
I just saw another button that I hadn't noticed before.
Maybe that is the button I'm suppose to push.
We will see later on if I know what I am doing.
Don't hold your breath.

A new week

Sometimes Mondays get me down. Other times I think of them as a good way to start fresh. Of course I feel that way when I'm not working Monday.
I'm looking forward to a great week. Hope I can live up to my expectations.
I would like to finish my exchange gift. My mother's birthday present. and my BSJ.
Those would be great things to say on Saturday morning.

Back again

Busy working and busy knitting.
I'm 50% finished with my exchange gift. Would be nice if I could finish it this weekend. Then I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore.
Still working on my BSJ. The red, white and blue look nice in the striping sequence that the knit along is doing.
Started some Christmas gifts. Need to leave them for a few days. Next Friday is my mother's birthday and I'm not finished with her hat. Must go to the yarn store on Tuesday and get more yarn so I can finish it. Hope to make her a scarf also.

Monday, November 08, 2004

Knitting

I spent a fair amount of time knitting this weekend. Haven't done that in a while. Which means I haven't done anything else.
50% finished my BSJ
40% my exchange gift.
I'm trying to only work on both projects right now.
Hope I can finish both by the end of the week.

The Day After

I'm listening to Kerry, right now.

I've been reading blogs this morning. Everyone is depressed and in shock. All I can say is don't give up.
We have 4 years to work.
We can win this fight.
Just hope we can survive the next 4 years. The Democrats have got to stay out there. They can not disapear and then hope we support them in 4 years.
On the knitting front I finished my Bourne Supremecy Scarf. Wrapped around my neck once it comes to my knees. It is very warm. I used 3 skeins. Berroco Medley. I have one skein left. I'm going to try and make me a hat.
I have 24 rows knit on my BSJ(Baby Surprise Jacket).
The next two nights I'll work on my exchange present. Haven't had much time to focus on it lately.
I wish America all the best.

The 11th month

Still knitting away.
Halloween was my 23rd Wedding Anniversary. Can't believe we made it this far.
Went out to dinner. Fiona stayed home with her brother so we could go out together. That was nice.
Listening to The original Sound track to Ladder 49. Saw the movie this weekend. Very good.
Also listening to: For The Lady. Dedicated to freeing Aung San Suu Kyi and the courageous people of Burma. Very nice. I realized that Brian knew nothing about their fight for freedom. So I must get him to read some info about it.
Tomorrow I start the BSJ knit along with the Yahoo group. Hope to get a BSJ knit for my nephew. I'm using Lion Brand Baby Soft in Red, Whit and Blue.

I've been knitting

I'm 15% finished with my exchange gift.
I'm 20% finished with my Bourne Supremacy Scarf.
I'm enjoying this scarf. I didnt' think I would but I am.
I started out with 30 sts. and st st. Now I am knitting 20 sts, still in st st. I know I dont' have enough yarn for the fringe so I may have to order more yarn. I'll wait and see.

Saturday, October 30, 2004

I'm working on my exchange gift. Going pretty well so far.
Then today I got yarn to make the scarf Julia Stiles wore in The Bourne Idenity.
I spent this afternoon uploading a ton of pictures to the computer. Now I have to go thru them and figure out which ones i want in my albums.
Should take me close to a month to do that.

Friday, October 29, 2004

Friday. Yea!!!!

Brian is in the 8th grade. Which means he will go to high school next year. Finding a school is not an easy task. In our unified school district you can't always go to your neighborhood school. So I decided that we need to look at the other schools. So last night after a full day of school and his Halloween dance we went to an open house. It has been advertized in his weekly bullitin as an open house. It wasn't it was back to school night for the high school. So we just walked around the campus.
The good point of the school. It is 2 blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. The bad point of the school. It will take him an hour to get there and he has to transfer from a streetcar to a bus.
So he said don't put it down as one of his options. I think he would be willing to go there if he is assigned there, he just doesn't want to let them know.
I don't blame him.
So off to school he goes, with some more knowledge.
Only one teacher asked to have a parent teacher conference with me, no surprise it is English. So hopefully we can help him out English wise.

Monday

It continues to rain on and off. I don't mind it that way. I like to see the sun every few days. Getting cold. Fiona and Brian have big coats. We bought them yesterday. So they are ready for the snow in NYC.

Friday, October 22, 2004

Fall

It is so hard to tell the seasons here. Monday we had a winter storm. Today it is warm and crisp.
Still can't finishe Fiona's broadstreet mittens.
I'm going to try and buy my tickets to New York City on Sat. The kids are getting excited about the trip.
With the new Nurses joining us I've found a few more knitters. Always nice to have people to talk about knitting with at work.
I am still without the disk to download my pictures. I really need to find it this weekend.
I have so many pictures on my camera and none on my harddrive. Woe is me.

Thursday, October 21, 2004

What gives?

Took three days for the Knitting Guru post to show up.
Now I know I can add things to my blog. Of course it will take forever for them to show up. LOL
Still working on Fiona's Broadstreet mittens. Bought the yarn for my exchange gift. Hope to start working on that this weekend.

Knitting Guru
You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting
and do it all the time. While finishing a piece
is the plan, you still love the process, and
can't imagine a day going by without giving
some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation
involves leaving ample space for the stash and
supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn
ends and you begin.http://marniemaclean.com

I've let my daughter run away

Well she is 20 and she is not really running away.
She is on Amtrak right now on her way to Santa Barbara to spend the weekend with a friend. She keeps telling me he is not a boyfriend. We'll see. She is hoping he will drive her out to CSU Northridge to see the campus. Wonder if that will happen.
So I am minus one child this weekend. Wonder if I'll survive. LOL
Back to work tonight. Hope to get some knitting done. Hope it isn't to busy.

Thursday

I'm suppose to have 2 nights of sleep in me, which means I should feel better. Oh, well.
Still knitting away on Fiona's mittens. Heather is making progress on her socks.
I need to go out and get more Magic Stripe. Good yarn to use for the kids. They love the colors and the yarn isn't expensive.
I have so many projects to do. Should try and organize myself.
Fog came in last night and cleaned up the air. I'm happy. Sun is trying to come out now. Looks nice without the haze.

Tuesday, October 12, 2004

Surviving

2 nights of work over. Now I'm off for 3. Wonder if I'll get any sleep.
Warm weather back again.
Hope I can enjoy it while I'm off.
Life doesn't always work that way.
Started Heather working on socks for herself. Wonder how much she'll do on her own. LOL
Finished on Broadstreet mitten for Fiona. Working on the second. Just plugging along.
Work busy as ever.
Life busy as ever.
So what else is new. Of course I should be happy I'm alive. Right?

Fleet Week

Every year my husband would take off work on Thursday and Friday to watch the Blue Angels. He is off from work as usual and hasn't gone anywhere. What gives? The Blue Angels are not part of Fleet Week this year. The Canadian Snowbirds are. Sat is the parade of ships. Fireworks Fri and Sat night. Sunday is the Columbus Day parade. Lots to do this weekend. I may just stay home. LOL

Saturday, October 02, 2004

Take a deep breath

Spoke with my sister yesterday. Feel a little better.
My parents have enough every month to pay the rent. Then my sister or myself can get paid to take care of my parents. So that should give them money to pay some of the bills. We already do the work we might as well get some money for it. So we will just leave everything as it is. I'll leave an email for my brother so he knows what is going on. I know this won't solve any problems but maybe everyone can calm down. Including myself.

Thursday, September 30, 2004

I need to talk about knitting more

I haven't talked about my knitting in a while.
I've finished 12 items so far this year.
Right now I'm still working on the afghan for my nephew. Not doing very well with it.
I'm making the broadstreet mittens for Heather. Using Lion Brand Magic Stripes in Jelly Belly.
They will look nice.
Just finished Brians socks Magic Strips.
Finished a scarf for me. Lion Brand Fancy Fur in jungle print. They are Halloween colors so I have a scarf to wear for October.
Big fight in my family. My parents are not moving to the new house with my brother. I am upset. Nothing I can do about it. My sister wants me and her to subsidize my parents income so they can stay in their house. I don't think I can do it, but I guess I'll just have to try.
Still haven't told my husband. I told my kids yesterday. We are all taking a wait and see attitude.
My brother is in Atlanta for a week. So my parents have a few days by themselves before my sister comes down for the weekend. So I'll leave my parents alone to see how they do. I was there yesterday. My sister will be down tomorrow and is leaving Tuesday. So I'll make sure I stop in on Wednesday. My brother is back on Thursday.
Wish I had all the answers to the problems in the world. Since I don't I just have to muddle along.

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

Life goes on

Heather is 18. Time just goes by faster and faster.
My brother's house will be ready Dec 15. I think he is going to try and delay moving in until the first of the New Year. I think my mother wants to be up there for Christmas. So we will see how things go.
Not much knitting going on. I just plod along on the socks of Brians and the baby blanket for my nephew. Wonder if I'll ever finish anything.
I read everyones blogs with all of the artwork and pictures and ask myself why I do more with my blog. Then I get online and I don't want to do more with my blog. I have no ambition.
Maybe I need to have Fiona take a look at everything and help me out. LOL

LIfe continues

I wrote out a blog during the week about my stupidity. Just as I hit post I lost my aol connection so no one knows about how stupid I am. LOL
My sister in law is home from the hospital.
She had a heart attack on Sunday. She is 50. Talking to her just now she says she has been having chest pain for 6 months. She has no idea what they did to her. She says they put something in her heart.
My husband and her say she just had a mild heart attack. They did an angioplasy and stent placement on Monday. She doesn't understand what that means. I know that is your mind and body protecting you.
She says nothing is wrong.
My husband said they told her she just needs to cut down on smoking. I looked at her discharge stuff. It says she needs to stop smoking.
So I guess i can just hope things go well. I really have no say in the matter. She is an adult, it is her life.
I just told the kids that they have to think about their future health, because it is not good to have a heart attack so young. So I hope they listen.

Saturday, September 11, 2004

Now where did I leave my....?

I swear to God. I would lose my head if is wasn't attached to my body.
I'm making Squares for an afghan for my new nephew.
I was getting mad at myself because I couldn't find my circular needles. Couldn't begin to think about what I had done to them. Wasnt' spending to much time trying to find them. Just courious as to why I couldnt' find them.
Asked Heather if she knew where they were. Get a funny look from her.
Mom, aren't they in your circular needle thing you bought?
Me: What circular needle thing?

Weekend's over

I know most people don't think it is because they have Monday off. These are my regular days off so I think the weekend is over.
Worked my weekend during a heatwave. Today was 96.
I had to stay at work until 12:30. Days was shortstaffed. So I came home and slept for 8 hours. Now I am awake. Once I'm sure the girls are home I'll go back to bed. May have a shower before I go to bed.
Brain is to tired to think.
I guess tomorrow will be another hot day. Good thing we don't get that many hot days. I couldn't survive.

Thursday, September 02, 2004

My days are almost over.

Wow what a title.
I go to work tomorrow night. It is suppose to be beautiful all weekend. I will be asleep. It has been sunny all week. So strange for us. So I've been out every day. Must at least see the sun when I am awake.

First day of Sept

Free day at the zoo.
Went with a former work friend, her son and mother. We had a good time. Warm by my standards they thought it was just right.
Glad I decided to forgo cleaning the house to spend the day with them.

Schools back

Poor Brian. He is back in school. He has fallen asleep before his bedtime two nights in a row. Poor kid wears himself out at school. This is after a summer of staying up until 4am watching movies and playing video games.
Still have my sore thoart. Fell better because I've been able to sleep. Hope to enjoy my 3 nights off. The weather is rather nice so I'll try and get out of the house tomorrow. Number one sending my exchange gift that has been ready for over a month.
Thought I would come in here and write a ton and now I can't think about what I wanted to write. Same old brain.

Missing post

I thought I posted something last night. I wonder where did it go.
Coming to the end of my vacation. Hope all at work goes well. Then end of summer vacation for the kids is almost here. They are not going to be happy.

long time no write

Well everyone ended up with my cold in one form or another. Tony has it now, which means he is staying home tomorrow.
I am up and about almost back to normal. Still have a sore throat, but otherwise I'm ok.
Started back knitting.
Sunday I went to a knitting group. We met at a wonderful bookstore. I was there for 2 hours before I looked at my watch.
Sunny on and off the past few days. Not our normal summer weather, so I'm enjoying it.

I feel better today

At least I don't have fever. My head still hurts and it hurst to swallow. I'm able to stay up for a bit. So I hope that means I am getting better.
Felling sick is for the birds. I have to much to do as it is. So I will spend today just trying to get some laundry done. Thought I might be able to knit but I just can't concentrate.

I think I have the flu

I can't believe it. Last night I had a fever and chills. I felt awful.
I don't feel any better right now. I just couldn't stand to be in bed any longer. I'm going to try and lie on the sofa and see if I can tolerate some TV. Then it will be back to bed.
My head is killing me.

What I did on my summer vacation

Didn't you just hate this essay when you went back to school?
My family hardly ever went on big vacations. We went away every weekend, but that was it.
So I try and take my kids away for at least a week, my brother trys to take them away also.
My trip usually is to my sisters. She has 3 dogs and I have none so my kids get a week with the dogs.
We usually cram ourselves into a car and drive. Our week usually goes like this:
Friday. Drive up to Aunties work to get her paycheck, then into Sonoma for lunch.
The only problem we had with the drive up was the traffic. It was a Friday afternoon. Eveyone trying to leave the city. Then the was a race at Searspoint so we had to detour around there not to get caught in traffic.
The other thing we learned is. When someone in the car thinks they may have a nut allergy don't try to eat Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. The person with the allergy turned out to be the driver. So while she is seeing stars not sure if she can breathe, we are frantically trying to put all the peanut butter cups in the bag and closing it up. Windows all open, she is sticking her head out the window while trying to drive. Luckly she felt ok once the smell of the peanut butter was gone.
I love stopping at Sonoma. We went to the Cheese Factory to get sandwiches. Ate at the square. Walked around and looked at the stores. Then started our trip to Aunties house.
The dogs were very happy to see us. The kids were very happy to see the dogs.
Sat: Late start as usual. Just to many people to get up and out. Today our drive is up to Elk Grove to see my brother's new house to be. First a stop at the Jelly Belly factory.
When we went to Elk Grove we met my brother and looked at some of the modle homes. His home will be beautiful. We were able to go to the lot that he will have his house on. We had fun dreaming. Had lunch/dinner at a wonderfull Italian place called the Macaroni Grill. After we went back to the house site so my brother could choose the outside color of his house. We then went over to Arden Fair Mall. The mall closed before we were finished shopping. Then drove all the way back to Santa Rosa.
Sunday: BBQ at Angies. Had to get up and go to Target and Trader Joes before we could go to Angies. We brought dessert. It was cool at Angies house which meant we could sit outside most of the time. She has a nice pool so it was nice to sit out there. Her black lab joined the kids in the pool. We left to late as usual.
Monday: Our goal was to drive up Hwy 101 as far as we could go. We didnt' leave Santa Rosa until 2pm so we only made it up to Wilits. We had fun anyway. Ate lunch in a park in Ukiah. We stopped at the fire station to get directions. They gave us a map. On the way home we stopped in Cloverdale. Heather wanted to go to the market to get pajamas ( just like we did 2 years ago). We were able to find the park that we ate in 2 years ago. Home late again.
Tuesday we went to the Sonoma County Fair. It was a warmer day then all the rest but not outragious. We filled ourselves with food on a stick. Saw cows being milked. Sheep being sheared. You know the fun stuff that city folk don't get to see. Dinner was a Willy Bird Restaurant.
Wednesday we stayed around Santa Rosa. We went to the mall. Target and then the Wednesday night market. We always have fun there. We also spend our time eating whatever you can eat from you had.
Thursday was our trip home. First we went to The Luther Burbank Gardens to take our yearly pictures of the kids. We then head out to the coast by way of Guernville. We went down into Bodega Bay to have lunch. It was very windy all along the coast and just not fun to eat at any of the beaches. We always make a stop at the Tides Inn. This time we even went into Bodega to see St. Teresa's Church. Had to make a stop in Petaluma looking for my cell phone. I found it. We do enjoy seeing the city as we drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. It is just sad when it means the end of our vacation.

Work sucks

OK, I need to pay the loto. I need to stop working. Either that or just not worry. We have big changes coming in the next few weeks and no one from management has said anything lately. I wonder if there will be any work for us. I can't get worked up about it. Or maybe I should.
Maybe it is just because it is very busy tonight.

Back to reality

I'm home from my vacation. No time to write about it. I work tonight and tomorrow night. I took 3 items with me to knit. I need to remember that I never knit when I am on vacation. I never picked up my needles. Just ran around and slept when I could. Watched way to much TV. Was out in the sun every day.
My brother's house will be beautiful. Took a ton of pictures.

Road Trip

Today is the first day of my vacation. LOL
Well it is.
We are going to my sisters. Then we just hang out. Get in the car and drive one another crazy. So when I get back I'll let everyone know how this years vacation went.
The highlight of our trip will be to see my brothers' soon to be house.

I'm a good big sister

Friday was my sister's birthday. We went and had our hair done and then I took her out to lunch. We went to a new teashop close to the hairdressers. It was a very nice lunch. Only one other table was occupied. So the place was very quiet. We sat and talked and talked. It was nice not to have to think of anything else.
Then we had to get back to reality. We ran our errands.
My kids met us at my parent so we gave my sister her birthday present. Last year I didn't get her much of a gift, no money. So this year we gave her a portable DVD player, headphones, and a carrying case. She was so shocked. We then lent her some of our many DVD's. She says last night she stayed up way to late watching one of the movies.
Only two more nights of work and I'm on vacation. Granted it I'm only off for 8 nights, but that is better then nothing.

So I'm no good at life

I slept until 1pm. Went to my mother's. Took my son to Hollywood Video to get more movies. Heated up frozen pizza. Vegged in front of the TV watching videos. Awful. Tomorrow looks to be just as bad.

Creativity-2

So I've been thinking about the creative process. Maybe I need to do more with it. I've always thought that since I knit I'm fulfilling my creativity. I guess I'm not. Now for something else to think about.
Still reading The Artist Way.
Listening to: The Best of Clannad.
Trying to plan a short vacation at the end of the month. Just hope my mother is doing well enough for us to leave her for a few days. I need to get away even if it is just for a short while.

Creativity

I went to see the Metallica movie today.
I am not creative. Of course I'm not a boozer or a druggie. They seem to have given all of that up.
I keep trying to find my creative side.
I'm not sure what is stopping me. I've been reading The Artist Way. It is a very good book. I just don't think it is speaking to me yet. I can't afford a therapist so I need to do it on my own. Either that or go back to school. I think I've been saying that for the past 20 years.
Still no knitting. I just carry it with me where ever I go. If I don't have it with me I miss it.
Maybe I need to learn how to play the drums. LOL

A good day

My mother had a good day with OT and PT today. OT helped her have a shower and says she can do her activites on her own. PT gave her more exercises to strengthen her knee. The good thing is she wasn't exhausted when PT left. So I guess she is getting her strength back.
Didn't know today. Don't know when I'll get around to knitting. Maybe something this weekend.

I complain to much

When I was at work last night I read my blog. I spend way to much time complaining about the fact that I do not get enough sleep. I think I need to stop.
I am almost finished with my exchange gift. Makes me feel good about that. One less thing to stress about.
I'm off until Sunday night. I can hope for sleep and the energy to complete tasks.

All Star Game

Tonight is the All Star Game. I'll try and watch as much as I can. As usual there is so much to do around her I really shouldn't be watching TV. I will anyway.

My mother is finding herself a lot more tired then she thought she would. PT and OT came today. She was tired before they even got there. They are both coming back on Friday but there should be a 3 hour break between the two of them.

I'm almost finished with my exchange gift. I should take it with me to work. Then I have a better chance to finish.Im at the boring part. Tha is ok. It looks cute. I picked a good color. Considering I am using yarn from my stash.

I really feel that I have been ignoring my blog. I do not have time to spend on the computer to make it look any different then it does already. So one of these days I'll have time.

Disregard the previous date.

I need to remember to read before I hit post.
The dates should be: July 7, 1951- July 7, 2004
Everyone can now laugh.

July 7, 1051- July 7, 2994

My parents have been married for 53 years. Today we had their celebration in my mother's hospital room. I bought a balloon and a card. My father brought a card. The SPCA made room visits. A little Lasha Lapso sat on my mothers bed and just lapped up all the petting. I think my mother was sad that she was in the hospital, but was happy to see all of us.
The good news is she will be home in Friday. My sister and I will bring her home. So tomorrow hight is my last night to spend in the hospital with her.
We've had some nice times.

I'm lost.

So what else is new.
I get on the computer this morning and everyone is writing about how their day at work is going and I keep wondering why everyone has to work on Saturday.
I need someone to keep an eye on me.
Either that or I need more sleep.

Was your journey really necessary?

My mother is now in rehab. One week after her operation. I am so exhausted. I'm sure she feels the same way. Hope she does well in rehab and can be home soon. One thing is sure she is never having another operation again.

Exhausted

Working nights and staying up during the day just don't work.
Off for the next 3 nights but I'll be spending them at the hospital with my mother.
So I have no idea when I'll have time to post here in the next week. I will continue to knit. I have a few projects I can take to the hospital with me.
I put in a request to move to day shift. I don't know if there are any positions but I just want them to know I'm interested. I'll have to work full time as oppose to .6, but at least I would be able to sleep at night.

I bleed orange and black

Giants won 6-4 againts Boston.
I think there were just as many Boston fans as there were Giants fans.
Brian and I had a good time.
So now we are home. Trying to rest. I will have a short nap soon.

Life and other reasons not to continue

What I'm listening to: The Best of Van Morrison
What I'm reading: Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynne Truss
The Artist Way by Julia Cameron

Fiona went out last night after having a fight with her father and hasn't come home yet. Heather and she went to a friends house. Heather came home. Heather got ahold of one of Fiona's friends about 2am and they said they were coming home soon. Fiona's cell phone is turned off so I can't get ahold of her. Now to think of a punishment that fits the crime. Her father says he will not pay her cell phone bill next month. So we will see what happens.
Went clothes shopping with all of them yesterday. Except for dealing with their pettyness it was actually ok.
Today Brian and I go to the Giants' Game. Then tonight we are going to my mothers to have my Fathers Father's Day dinner. Just to much to do next week to have it tomorrow. This way everyone can relax for the busy week ahead.
Well now to go and think of Fiona's punishment.

Thursday

I put Brian's socks on hold. They are anoying me. I started a shawl. My mother goes into the hospital next week for a knee replacement. I figured I need an easily carried project and a shawl in the beginning is small enough to carry around.
Off work until Sunday night. Hope to be able to get some sleep.

Fiona Bag

My bag is offically finished. I put on the cute sheep button that Lynnette got for me in Virginia. I even took a picture of the bag. I'll post the picture on my photoalbum when I get the chance.

NIght Shift

I was just thinking tonight as I was going to work that I've been here 5 years. I'm so depressed. I thought for sure I would be able to get a dayshift job before now. Oh well. I can always hope.
I think I'm just out of sorts because I can't seem to sleep. Sleep is very important when you work nights. I hope it improves quickly.
So I'll just try and survive.

Summer is here

The kids are off for the summer.
Always a sad and happy time of the year. Happy I don't have to worry about school work. Sad they will be around all the time. LOL
Finished one of Brian's socks. Must get the other one done soon.
Got the button for my Fiona bag. It is cute. Must sew it on and then take a picture to put into my photo album.
Still haven't decided what I will make for my exchange gift.
I do have a few ideas, just need to spend some time putting the ideas into action.

So I have a blog

I've tried blogs before, but I forget to post in them.
So once again I will try.
Went to my knitting group today. Brought my Fiona bag. They thought it was great.
We each had some show and tell. It is always nice to see what others are knitting.
Gives me ideas of what to knit.
I am going to try and meet with them on Sunday. A nice way to spend a Sunday.
