Countdown to the move to Elk Grove

I think this is post 50. How cool is that?
I think my brother and parents will move in 2 weeks. There is so much to do until then. I need to get my Christmas tree down and clean my living room. Then spend as much time at my parents as I can to help them pack.
My sister went up to the house on Monday. She said she never wanted to leave. She has 2 bottles of wine in the house already. She knows how to set her priorities. LOL

Countdown to 2005

Yesterday I canceled my dentist appointment. I couldn't stop coughing. Not fair to them to cough in their face all the time.
So I took my hubby's portable DVD player to bed with me. Had enough tea and cookies to keep me happy and watched the Bourne Idenity and Supremacy.
I was in heaven. It was also a great gift to myself. Just rest and relax. I woke up this morning feeling good. I also went back on all of my allergy meds. They are good also. So coughing and wheezing down to a minimum.
I'm glad I bought him the DVD player for Christmas. I may have to get myself one. LOL
So back to knitting today. Almost finished with hubbies Irish Hiking Scarf.
Next week I will sit down and figure out what I want to knit for 2005.

'Twa the day after Christmas

It is over, it was a success. Everyone was happy and no one stressed over the day. Now to see when I can get the tree out of here. I need to breath. LOL
Work wasn't to bad. I even got some sleep yesterday. Of course not enough for me to feel good, but that is ok. Off for a few nights now so I can rest.
Raining here and cold today. Good think I don't have to do anything.

'Twas the night before Christmas

So it is almost Christmas and I am ready. Well as ready as I'll ever be. Off to bed soon. Then off to work. The only thing about working Christmas eve and night is public transportation is almost non existant. Hope it doesn't take me to long to get to work tonight.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas.

Christmas Tree

When am I going to admit defeat?
The tree is up. The kids decorated it and it looks beautiful.
I've been wheezing ever since it came into the house.
One of these years I'll put my foot down and buy a fake tree.
I don't mind the needles all over the house. I don't mind the smell. I am just tired of not being able to breath.
I feel like such a scrooge. Well I actually don't feel like that. I think I feel defeated, but a stupid tree. I love trees. I love their smell.
They just don't love me.

I'm feeling better

I went out for a walk, then my parents. Then I went to the mall. Got most of my shopping done. I know the walk is what made me feel so good. So I'll be sure and go out for one tomorrow.
I just need 3 more presents. It is great to not feel in a rush. I can enjoy myself. I didn't realize it until I went to the mall.

How many day's until Christmas?

My brother spent the night in his new house.
He is very excited. Wish I could feel the same way. Maybe I am just jealous. So one more thing to take day by day. It will all work out.
Got a little Christmas shopping done yesterday.
The one great thing about Christmas is the shops are open on my way home from work. So I was able to shop and be home just 30 mins later then I usually am.
I felt so good.
Now to get my act together so I can go out and buy my brother and sister their presents. Once I get to the store I should be finished in no time. Then over to see my parents then home and I guess we should decorate the tree.
The kids brought it upstairs last night. It is great to have kids that are almost grown up. They go ahead and do things.
I need to find the lights. Maybe I'll just buy new ones.
Who knows.
I can feel the Christmas depression starting to creep in. Must fight it. I've made it this far. Can't let it take over now.
I should feel good that I'm this close and I still feel calm.

Can you tell I"m bored?

Lemon Tea
Lemon Tea...
Strong willed and a bit feisty in temper you stand
out from other people! Creative but dangerous
you have few friends and those that have been
accepted into your small group are special and
unique just like yourself. Once your mind is
made up that's it and no one can change it. You
can think clearly and figure out just what to
do in a tense situation which is a rare gift.
You arent twisted by societies rules and
regulations and are rebel by nature!

Testing

I have to post this again to see if I got it right

Goth Mama
You're a witchy woman! Chances are that you see
Morticia Addams as a role model, and your
wardrobe sports a fair amount of black. The
other mothers at school pick up may look
askance, but your kids already know that the
judgement of others isn't what counts.

What knitting needle are you?

bamboo
You are bamboo.
Warm, cozy, and thoughtful, you take your time and
enjoy how things feel, smell, and taste. You
love the craft and beauty of traditional
things, and you value the comfort and
experience of knitting as much as the results.
But while you are reveling in your warm cozies,
don't get stuck. Warm is wonderful, but so is
the whole wide world!

Twas the week before Christmas

So how many of you are ready for Christmas?
I'm not.
I'm not worried about it, I not depressed about it. I'm just not ready and really don't see how I'll have the time to get ready.
I'll just take it day to day and see what happens.
I work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. So I'll end up sleeping all day Christmas day. I'll see if the kids want to wake up early and do gift ro if they want me to go to sleep and wake up so we can do Christmas.
Whatever we decide it will work out.
Maybe the fact I have to work sort of has something to do with my mood.
Somebody has to work Christmas and it is my turn this year. Can't complain.
I have a tree. Just need to get it up so we can decorate it.
I do have a few items to knit up for presents. I'm not even worried about getting them finished on time.
Hope I can stay this calm all week.

New York City Part 2

We of course were up late on Saturday. LOL
Had breakfast delivered which was great. Meant none of us had to get moving quickly in the morning.
When we finally made it out of the house the kids and I went shopping. The girls wanted to go to H&M. So we did. Brian of course went to Fye. I stayed outside on the street and bought a Prada backpack from a guy on the street. LOL
After everyone was finished shopping we walked around. The kids wanted to go to the restaurant Serendipity. They new it from the movie Serendipity. We didn't get to eat there because there was a 4 hour wait. We did get to eat at a lovely pizza place. The kids had a great time walking around looking at all the sites.
We were starting to head to Times Square to meet our friends. I called them to see where they were, they had just gotten off the Staten Island Ferry and were going to eat. So we walked around some more. Looked at the Bloomingdales windows. They are Phantom of the Opera. My girls can't wait for the movie to come out. Fiona wanted a T-shirt. So we went inside. She decided not to buy one when she found out it was $68.
We then made our way up to Times Square. We walked up and down Times Square. Went into Toys 'R Us. Went down to the Late Show. Had a great and tiring time. Never did meet up with our friends. Just so many people. It would have been impossible to meet up with them. Didn't make it back to my friends house until midnight. We were very tired but the kids had a great time.
Sunday was our last day. We planned to take our luggage with us. My friend thought we were crazy and offered to meet us later and drive us to the airport. That was a great gift from her. Never mind letting all of us stay at her place.
So we took the bus down 5th Ave to Central Park. We got off the bus at the southern end of the park and had a great time walking around. It was a beautiful day. Sunny and warm. I was saying if we had a summer day in San Francisco like that we would be in heaven. We got to see the Carosel, everyone ice skating and the zoo. Time just didn't permit us to do anymore than walk around and look at everything. It was fun and realxing and we say the next time we come to New York we will spend more time in the park.
We then made our way to Grand Central Station where we had something to eat and met up with our friend.
She drove us to JFK. I was exhauted sitting in traffic and I have no idea how she was able to drive in it.
I am so glad she drove us. We were able to get there without any hassel and we even had time to relax after we went thru security. The trip home was good. I even had a nap on the plane.
We arrived home around midnight
The kids are anxious for their next trip.
It was great fun going with them. I'm glad they came and will travel with them in the future. They are great fun.

New York City 2004

The kids and I were in New York City from December 1-5. We had a wonderful time.
Our flight to New York was uneventful. We took a taxi from JFK to Grand Central Station. We were all exhausted and couldn't talk much. We did walk around Grand Central a little and had something to eat. We then took the subway up to my friends house. We were in bed early.
Of course that didnt' mean we would be up early the next day. Our internal clocks are 3 hours later than New York.
We did make it over to see the Statue of Liberty on Friday. We didnt' make it to Ellis Island. Had a great time walking around Liberty Island, taking pictures and looking back at Manhattan. I always love being some where in the middle of the water and looking back at land.
We arrived back on Manhattan about 5:30pm. Walked up to the World Trade Site. Walked around there. They have lots of info up about the history of the site and what the plans for the future are.
We then went and walked around Lower Manhattan. Lights and tall buildings were our guide. We had a great time.
We ended up at Little Italy and decided to stop and eat.
After dinner we walked some more.
When we made it back to my friends house our hostest and her daughter were asleep. My friend from Canada and her friend were there so we had a nice visit before we all headed to bed.
Slowly posting pictures.
I get tired of doing it and then sign off and don't go back. Hopefully by Monday I'll have them all up.
Friday was my birthday. We went to the Museum of Modern Art. It was very nice. Met my friends at Rockerfeller Center. Took pictures at the tree. The kids were able to go to The Pokemon Center. The NBC Store and The American Girl Store. So they were happy.
Thank goodness for cell phone. Otherwise I have no idea how we would have met up with our friends.
We took the bus back up to my friends house. We were very loud and obnoxious on the bus. No one said anything to us. Maybe they were afraid of us. LOL
There was a birthday party waiting for me back at my friends house. I had a great time. Drank way to much wine. Called my husband and two friends in the middle of the night. My husband is the only one laughing about the phone call. Good think I only get drunk once or twice a year.
Didn't get to sleep until after 3am. Of course that was only 12midnight San Francisco time.
More later.

New York trip is over and done

I don't have much time to write.
I can tell everyone we had a great time.
The weather was great. No rain or snow, so we were able to get around very easily.
The kids had a great time and I had fun with them.
