The lights are using Hydrogen Technology. The ornaments are made my residents of the State Development Centers. Some of them get to travel to Sacramento for the tree lighting.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Happy Birthday to Me

Well today is my Birthday.
I'm home. Last year I was in Disneyland. The year before I was in NYC.
So a nice quiet birthday for a change.
It is sunny out there. Should be 66 degrees.
No rain in site and that awful freezing cold is gone.
I'm glad.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving Day.
We are home. We went to my mother's last weekened for her Birthday. She is 85 years young.
My kids will go back up tomorrow for the weekend.
They did the same thing last year.
Dinner is all ready, just have to heat it up when everyone is ready to eat.
We can even eat in our pj's if we want. LOL

The sun is shinning

It is so nice to see the sun.
It is actually warm out there. Yesterday it was so windy I thought it was March.
Trying to knit, but I just can't pay attention.
I'll just remind myself I need to knit a little every day.
Trying to get my scarf exchange package out before the weekend.
Must remember to take a picture first.

I hope November is a better month

I have a bleeding ulcer and gastritis. I am told it will take months to heal. So I will take my drugs and watch what I eat and try to exercise when I feel well enough. I go back to work tomorrow night. I took last week off. I hope the rest did me some good.
Knitting on and off. Don't really have an interest right now.

On the Road to Recovery

I am starting to feel better. I still have some days I'm in pain. Need to pay closer attention to what I eat or don't eat. I think the major part of my problem is that I don't eat when I'm at work at night.
I really hate the way I feel when I eat in the middle of the night, so I dont' eat. So now to find a happy medium. I was thinking of taking yogurt to work.
Eventually I will find a way to deal with all of this.
Knitting away on a Clapotis using Malbabrigio. It is beautiful yarn.

I have an ulcer

At least it has a name.
I'm on pills. Now for diet change.
10 years of Ibuprofen usage was not good for my gut I guess. I spent the past year trying to cut down on my Ibuprofen dose. I guess it wasn't enough. I have arthritis. Tylenol Arthritis Strength does not work as well as Ibuprofen.
So now it is more important then ever to lose my weight.
Hey I lost 8 pounds with this pain. LOL
So now to be healthy. I think I'm due.
I did finish a scarf thru all this.

2 ER visits down

This has not been a good month for me so far.
On the 2nd I passed out without warning.Yesterday I Spent 10 hours in the ER with abdominal pain. Diagnosis? Not sure.
Could be gall stones, an ulcer or gastritis.
I've had blood work, had it repeated. Had 2 EKG's and a CT Scan with contrast. Ugh. A Chest Xray.
Now for an ultrasound, a GI appointment and a return appontment with my regular doc.
Right now I just want to feel better. Eating and being in pain is no fun.
I'm trying to knit but I just don't feel well enough.
I'll keep it with me just in case.

Warm Hands

I've joined the warm hands knit along.
Just waiting to be aproved.
I figure this is a good way to get some Christmas gifts knitted.
I did make one mitten earlier this year. I need to rip out the thumb and reknit it, then I need to finish the second mitten.
Hopefully this will be the push I need.

One teenager left

Heather is now 20. That leaves only one teenager in the house. Yea.
I finshed the fingerless mitts and gave them to Heather for her birthday. I need to take a picture of them.
Heather has been very kind to give her cold to all of us.
I am not happy.

Knitting

I have started so many new projects and just don't seem to be able to finish them. I'm still at a standstill on my Pi Shawl. I think I just need to sit down and not do anything else for awhile. I have no idea when that will happen.
I started
I've finshed one Fetching mitt and have the other one to finish. I'm using South West Trading Co. Bamboo yarn. Lovely yarn. I highly recomend it.
I started a scarf that I will now rip out. I'm using Art Fibers Alfabeto in blue. It is lovely yarn. The scarf is a Diagonal Rib pattern. I made a mistake and must rip it out. I think I will reknit it on size 7 needles. The 6's make it feel rather tight.
Then I have my Clapotis that I want to make in Malbriggo.
Would be nice to finish all of these in the month of Sept.

Amazing Lace # 6

I just realized that my last picture for Amazing Lace should have been #5. If I get time I'll go in and change the number.
I'm up to 598 stitches or something like that. I bound off so I could see what it looks like. I will need to knit some more. I know I have another pattern to use. I'll have to look it up. The Pi Shawl looks very nice but it is a large doily size and not a shawl size.
I'll try and get a picture taken as soon as possible. I know I've missed every deadline for the Amazing Lace contest. It doesnt' bother me. I didnt' get into it to win a prize, just to see other lace and knit lace has been fun.
Now to go and wind up another skein of yarn and find my pattern so I can continue.
I've only used 1 skein of yarn so far. 220 yards of laceweight yarn goes along way.

Vacation Over

I am back at work. So I guess that means vacation is over.
I'll get back to my account of vacation.
On the Saturday we went up to Coloma, Ca to Sutter's Mill. That is where gold was found. It was very interesting to see everything. We did stop in Placerville on our way up. The rode along Hwy 49 to Clomoa.
Continued on Hwy 49 at the end of our day to Auburn. Then we got onto 80 to head home.
Sunday we just hung around Elk Grove. We did go to the movies. We saw John Tucker Must Die. It was ok. I think the kids enjoyed it. We were just glad for an air conditioned place to sit in for a while.
Monday we did nothing. Siobain went back to work and we just hung around. Got laundry done. Did some work in the front yard.
Tuesday we were up early to ride into Sonoma with Siobain. I think it has been over 2 years since we were in Sonoma.
Then we went into Santa Rosa. We stopped in at the Luther Burbank Gardens to take the kids picutes.
Then the ride home. Luckly all of our trips have been without incident. We do joke about the differnt things that can happen, but they don't.

Summer Vacation 2006 Part 2

Wednesday we went to Folsom.
It is a nice little town along the American River.
We did not get started until 4pm, which meant we arrived in old town Folsom after all the stores closed. I wanted to eat at the tea shop there. We will go back some other time. Hopefully when it is cooler.
We did have a lovely lunch at the Stage Grill. It is in the building where the Folsom Hotel use to be. The food was wonderful. While it was very hot even after 5pm we did walk around for a bit.
We stopped at the Folsom Outlet Mall on the way home. Can't pass up a chance to spend money. The only thing about the out let Mall is that some of the stores charge the same as they do in their regular stores. No fun there.
WE were able to see the lightrail station in Folsom. Now we know how to get there without a car.
Thursday we took my mother to get her hair done. It was the first day when the temps were under 100 degrees. She was very thank full to be able to get out and get her hair done. Brian also got his haircut.
The big event for today was the Strauss Festival in Elk Grove Regional Park. We brough our dinner with us. We even put wine into a water bottle. Then we also bought wine to get glasses that have the Strauss Festival 2006 etched on them. I gave my glass to my husband. It is a very nice little glass.
The weather was just beautiful. The music was lovely. The costumes on the dancers were unbelievable. To bad the pictures of the dancers didnt' come out.
There were fireworks afterwards.

Friday: We went to the Crocker Museum in Sacramento to see the MC Escher exhibit.
The museum is in the Crocker Mansion. The building is absoutley beautiful. The other exhibits in the museum are wonderful. We had a great time looking at everything.

Vacation 2006

Glad to be home and see the fog.
We arrived last Sunday it was 109. I don't remember the last time I felt such opressive heat. It was my siter's birthday, so we stopped off to get her gifts and dinner.
We had a nice quiet celebration. I worked Saturday night. I woke up at 5:30pm on Saturday and went to bed at 12:30am on Monday morning. I was not happy over the lack of sleep.
I did sleep for 12 hours.

Monday was 108. We had plans to go to the River Cats Game. It took us all day to get ready to go. I cannot belive how hot it was.
The game was fun, but we were miserable because of the heat. We talked about how even in the middle of summer when you are going to the Giant's game you need to think if you are going to need a blanket or not.
Here we were looking for ice, ice cream, cold drinks. My little fan got a workout.

Tuesday was 103. We went to IKEA in West Sacramento. We spent about 4 hours there. I cannot belive we spent that much time there. We all had fun dreaming about everything we would buy if we could.
